What is Les Mills BODYATTACK?

BODYATTACK is a group-fitness aerobics program, aimed at developing cardiovascular fitness, physical fitness, coordination and stamina. Les Mills International creates the program, with music and movements varied every 3 months. BODYATTACK combines athletic movements like running and jumping with strength exercises such as push-ups and squats. The worldwide standardized class either 55, 45 or 30 minutes in length is guided by an instructor who leads participants through various exercises to a contemporary music tracklist.

Is Les Mills BODYATTACK suitable for beginners?

BODYATTACK is for all ages, abilities and fitness levels. There are always low mid and high impact options for all moves from which you can choose depending on your fitness level.

What's a BODYATTACK class like?

Since 2015 there are always 12 tracks for the 55 minutes class. For the 45 or 30 minute express variants some songs are shortened or removed completely.

The 55 minutes workout consists of the following tracks:

  • Plyometric
  • Athletic Strength
  • Running
  • Agility
  • Interval
  • Power

  • Cooldown

What equipment do I need?

There is no equipment needed for BODYATTACK so all you need is comfortable workout clothes, a drink bottle and a towel. For some tracks a mat is recommended.

What to keep in mind for the first class

  • Show up early and introduce yourself to the instructor.
  • Set up close to the front so you can completely see the instructor.
  • You won’t be able to get all the moves perfectly the first time, which is totally okay.
  • Nobody is looking at you!
  • Take the low options.
  • If you are having trouble with some moves, leave out the arms.
  • BODYATTACK is mostly about fun and movement

How often should I do BODYATTACK?

Les Mills recommends attending BODYATTACK 2 – 3 times per week, for great results.

How many Calories do I burn?

According to Les Mills you can burn up to 730 calories per workout. In 2000 a study compered the energy expenditure during typical BODYATTACK, BODYSTEP, BODYCOMBAT and RPM classes. In this study the average energy expenditure was 660 calories for the male participants and 602 for the female participants.
